Por vezes, durante os 107 anos de atividade da mina de S\u00e3o Domingos, foi uma das maiores da Europa em termos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o e n\u00famero de empregados e, em seu pico, 16.000 pessoas estavam associadas \u00e0 mina.<\/p>\n<p>Na aldeia mineira, a empresa construiu uma igreja, uma escola, um teatro, a primeira central el\u00e9trica da prov\u00edncia e a primeira central telef\u00f3nica. H\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m um cemit\u00e9rio ingl\u00eas, onde os gerentes da mina e suas fam\u00edlias, muitos da Cornualha, est\u00e3o enterrados.<\/p>\n<p>Desde o fechamento, a mina atrai turistas.
