Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival at the Faro Airport

Day 2 – Walking from Cabanas to Cacela Velha on the Natural Reserve
An easy walk, close to the coast, starting in the beautiful old village of Cacela Velha, following tracks and quiet lanes to the picturesque old fishing village of Cabanas where fishermen still continue their craft, mixing harmoniously with the visitors crossing to the island and the golden beaches.
We continue back to Cabanas de Tavira, through the saltpans where we may see an abundance of wildlife along with the traditional craft of salt extraction.
Cacela-Velha
Day 3 – The Ria Formosa Natural Reserve – Boat tour & Kayak trip
A day dedicated to exploring the treasures of the Ria Formosa. During the morning we will take an exciting boat tour in this true sanctuary of nature and a privileged location to observe birds. The Natural Park is visited annually by about 30 thousand birds from different species! There is still a small traditional fishing fleet and during this tour, we will get to see some of the old fishing boats with their traditional colors and fishing artifacts.
In the afternoon let’s paddle through the Algarve’s famed blue waters in a kayak! A safe, comfortable, and easy-to-use kayak is the perfect way for you to explore the waters of the Ria Formosa.

Day 4 – Cycling tour Cabanas – Tavira – Cabanas
An easy route, running along the coast and the Ria Formosa on the coastal ecovia. Nature and wildlife to enjoy.
We finish again in Tavira, one of the most unspoiled towns in the Algarve. There will be time to stroll around & enjoy this lovely town.
Free time for lunch. At the end of the afternoon, we will return to our bicycles and head back to the hotel.

Day 5 – Free Day
On this day you can take the boat and have a nice day at the beach. Or have an optional excursion available at the Resort. Get advice from your tour leader.
Discover the Real Algarve in our 4×4 vehicles through the nature reserve, mountains, and timeless villages. Watch the locals with their traditions. Visit organic farms and taste the natural and organic products from the region. Arrive in beautiful “Quinta do Rio”, have a relaxing swim, a traditional lunch with ingredients from our farm, overlooking the river Guadiana. On our cruise back along the river Guadiana, between Portugal and Spain, enjoy nature, relax on the top deck or have a refreshing break at the salon bar.
Day 7 – Walk Fuzeta to Barril & Afternoon at the Beach
A lovely walk following the Algarve’s Ecovia. We pass by old estates with orange, figs, and almond orchards and through the salt pans of Fuzeta where we are able to appreciate the rich birdlife of the area.
At the end is Barril where we get the local train to the beach and have the afternoon at the beach, near the Anchor’s cemetery.
Return to the Hotel at the end of the day.
